We've all heard about Jimi Hendrix opening for The Monkees.

In the early 80's I saw Prince go on before The Rolling Stones.
Prince got booed and pelted with drinks, food, and whatever
people could throw. Didn't faze him, he just kept singing and ducking.

Anyone else see any bands that just
shouldn't have been on the same ticket?

I once saw Grand Funk open for Laura Nyro. They sucked and she was fabulous.

I also saw Chris Montez (remember Call Me?) open for the Byrds.

Wow, that's interesting...a younger band opening for old warhorses...something tells me Rossington and Van-Zant better start writing some better and harder-rocking tunes....I'd certainly welcome new songs that are more in the "Street-Survivors" vein!

The weirdest thing I ever heard and don't know if it was just a joke, but I saw posted somewhere Styx, Ted Nugent and the Nelson Twins. :D :heheh:

Saw the Beach Boys open for Chicago around 1975 and it was a Beach Boys crowd all the way Chicago should have opened for them.

i saw bruce springsteen open for LOTS of really wierd groups including chicago, anne murray(she was booed when she got on stage as the crowd wanted bruce back and she subsequently vowed never to play NYC again...doubt she's been missed) , and believe it or not... cheech and chong.

as stated elsewhere...saw the who and cream open for mitch ryder and the detroit wheels.

the fillmore east always had lots of wierd combinations of acts too..but they were great as it exposed you to groups you might not have heard before.

I saw Styx, America, and the Nelson Twins a couple of years ago. The Nelson's are incredible singers. Can't remember the songs, but they can sure sing 'em.
