NO! Not Dorothy's little dog but the BAND founded by a collective group of session musicians in 1977. How polished can a band be when made up of all pro players....pretty polised. The songwriting was incredible as well.

Thought not the original line up....but the most well known lineup for the first few albums were...
Bobby Kimball
David Paich
Steve Lukather
Jeff Porcaro
Steve Porcaro
David Hungate

Hopefully through this thread we will also explore past members and future members. Many newbies to this band will remember Hold The Line, Africa or Rosana, but with a little effort I'm sure that by the end of the day, many will find that TOTO is a band with PLENTY of great material and a band that is worth talking about!!

Hydra is good, but for pop quality I liked The Seventh One from 1988

Stranger in town off Isolation is an awesome song. This band always kind of rubbed me the wrong way. I found alot of their songs whiny and boring. To me they were in the same boat as Styx , Kansas, and Journey.

It's a shame people only really seem to acknowlege Rosanna, Africa and Hold the Line these days, they had some absolutely killer material. Isolation is really a brilliant album, it has to be said.

Re: The Official TOTO Thread

The problem being most Classic Rock Stations will only play a bands biggest hits. Not a problem if you are the Beatles, Stones, CCR. But for bands like
Toto, Journey and Styx we get to hear the same 3 or 4 songs over and over again.

What a great band Toto were, what a back catalogue.

Turn Back is my personal favourite album, Isolation is another classic with Fergie Fredericksen on vocals. Falling In Between was a great swansong.

Bobby Kimball was a great vocalist, loved his style.

Had the pleasure of seeing them live twice.
