Good thread idea, the 1970s are definitely my favourite decade - although I've recently started to find quite a few albums I really like from the 1960s, I have more albums from this decade than any other.
My list actually includes a couple of the same ones as you, tones of home, although there are plenty of differences too.
I should add that this list could easily be subject to change in the future, but for the time being I'm pretty happy with my choices.
70:
1) Neil Young - After The Gold Rush
2) Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin III
71:
1) Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV
2) Pink Floyd - Meddle
72:
1) Wishbone Ash - Argus
2) Neil Young - Harvest
73:
1) Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon
2) Lynyrd Skynyrd - Pronounced Leh-Nerd Skin-Nerd
74:
1) Eagles - On The Border
2) Lynyrd Skynyrd - Second Helping
75:
1) Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
2) Bob Dylan- Blood On The Tracks
(1975 is a great year as far as I'm concerned, several of my favourites released great albums and in Neil Young's case he had two with Tonight's The Night and Zuma)
76:
1) Eagles - Hotel California
2) Led Zeppelin - Presence
(I love Hotel California but other than this year isn't a vintage one for me, guess there was so much quality coming out the previous year that this one suffers a bit by comparison, partly as most of my favourites didn't release albums in 1976)
77:
1) Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
2) Pink Floyd - Animals
78:
1) Dire Straits - Dire Straits
2) David Gilmour - David Gilmour
79:
1) Neil Young - Rust Never Sleeps
2) Pink Floyd - The Wall
(I have quite a lot of albums by my personal standard from 1979 - again a lot of my favourites released albums in this year - but with the exceptions of these two classics most of them have some problems)
