Now since when were Elvis Presley and David Allan Coe Southern Rock? The Charlie Daniels Band, I consider Country because Country radio plays his stuff and the only song of their's i've ever hear on Classic Rock stations is Devil Went Down To Georgia and its a rare hear there. The North Mississippi All Stars are a band i've never heard of before.

CCR is from Northern California, but I guess their sound could be considered Southern Rock.

This would be my list:

  1. CCR
  2. Lynyrd Skynyrd
  3. ZZ Top
  4. Atlantic Rhythm Section
  5. The Allman Brothers Band
  6. .38 Special
  7. Molly Hatchet
  8. The Marshall Tucker Band
  9. The Charlie Daniels Band
  10. Black Oak Arkansas

Kid Rock's past two albums have a Southern rock/ country sound.I would say they are as much southern rock as CCR

I listen to a classic rock station all the time and I will typically hear four different Charlie Daniels tracks:

  • Devil Went Down To Georgia
  • Long-Hair Country Boy
  • South's Gonna Do It Again
  • Uneasy Rider

Thats the difference in our Classic Rock radio stations. In my area he's accepted as Country and not Southern Rock.

North Mississippi All Stars are awesome, but they are not southern rock. The Outlaws should be higher. I put them third.

Gov't Mule is one of favorite all time bands, but definitely not Southern Rock. More like straight up rock.
