Hey watsup! This is my first time posting here. I am writing here in hopes that some other fans can help me with my issue. I am a college freshman and I am really the only one of my friends that loves classic rock. I am always trying to expose my friends some, but most of the time they reject what I play for them. My favorite bands/musicians are The Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin, The Allman Brothers Band, Cream, Eric Clapton's solo work, The Who, Van Morrison, Stevie Ray Vaughn, etc. I am very into lengthy guitar solos. My modern day favorites include Phish, DMB, and O.A.R.
My issue, however, is that when were all just chilling and pregraming or what not in the rooms, I cannot stand listening to music like Lil' Wayne and/or techno. However, there are some classic rocks songs that everybody seems to just love (like Baba O'Reilly), and some that most people will at least enjoy (like Used to love her by Guns N' Roses). I sat down with my friend yesterday and tried to figure out exactly what it is that people seem to find strange about classic rock today, and he told me that good music today has to have a good beat. Personally, I would rather jam out to a Jimmy Page guitar solo than hear a good beat, but whatever. So I was wondering if anybody has any suggestions of songs that have pretty good beats that most people will appreciate...I figure showing people these songs will be the first step in leading them out of the cave lol.
