Thrice is a band from Irvine, California that started as a metalcore band that even as a metalcore band potential for much more. Their lead by their frontmen Dustin Kensrue, who IMO is one of the better songwriters to come out in the last 10 years. Also Teepei Teranshi is an excellent versatile guitarist. They brooke out with the album Artist in the Ambulance. With their net release Vheisuu Thrice started to seperate themselves from the metalcore sound. The song lyrics are much deeper and musically on its way to being much more dynamic. Then between 2006-2006 they release the Alchemy Index which is 4 EPs. Each EP represented in element of nature ( water, fire, earth, and air). So in 4 years went from a metalcore band to having a sound undescrible and making concept albums. They released in 2009the album, Beggars. If you havent heard this band before you do not know what you are missing. Whar I like about theme the most unlike most bands who would have been content to stay in their metalcore box, Thrice is willing to evolve and they are still evolving.

Examples of thier metalcore sound

I've been giving these guys a listen again. I used to listen to them all the time. Still love them.

And my all time favorite song by them, it was the first one I ever heard from them:

I have their "Alchemy" series thanks to your recommending them years ago P&C, been a long time since I listened to them though. I am glad they moved out of their metalcore beginnings and become a much more versatile band, shows their quality I would say.

Oh I totally forgot that I recommended them. I really like their style in the Alchemy albums. I haven't heard anything about new albums from them, but I hope they stick with that style.

I 'obtained' the Alchemy volumes today, after listening to your videos P & C. I have only listened to each volume once...and my favorite at the moment is Volume IV ~ Earth.

Is there another album by Thrice that I should check out also?

I have to say their early stuff is "bleh".

Their earlier stuff isn't all that great, I can recommend getting Vheissu. It's a fun album. I don't like anything before that though. I did however just notice that they released an album in 09 and I had no idea. I think i've got an album to obtain.

I saw the 2009 album in my travels today, and thought about getting it. I was hoping maybe you'd heard it :)
