Re: Three Dog Night

Pay no mind to the video images but the song is pretty moving.....I can't see doing a song this poignant any other way than a beautiful accapella

The harmonies are spectacular!!!

From what I gather this is going to be on the new album, sounds to me like some excellent country rock!!

Re: Three Dog Night

Yeah Prayer for the Children sounds good, Heart of Blues, is kind of a throwaway song in my opinion. Just a riff really. Sounds like a Richie
Podolor riff, but I asked Paul Kingery and he said no it wasnt.

But to my ears clearly a Richie Podolor style riff, no doubt at all.

I like Prayer, a really good mix of a nice tune, and its nice all the guys
got to blend in..

But without Chuck Negron, to me, it cant be Three Dog Night.. and Chuck
by the way, still sounds great, and just released a new tune recently
called "I'm Sorry" great track, has some energy.

Also the Dogs got a big part of their sound from the Rhythm section
Floyd on Drums and Joe on Bass, without them and Chuck, it just doesnt
sound like the Dogs..

Its a shame, the guys are all in their mid to late sixties now, and this was
the last chance to get Chuck involved and Danny and Cory have been running things so long now, they are in denial about what a big part of the
group Chuck was..

Danny Huttons poor management of Three Dog night post 1980, is why they
aren't in the rock hall of fame. In my opinion.

Oh well life goes on Bra.. la la la lala la

I am not a huge fan of "Greatest Hits" compilations because they leave off a ton of songs from bands which are really good. Although, a greatest hit compilation is a good way to get introduced to a band.

Which hits album do you have....Golden Bisquits, Joy to the World, or The Best of ??

Joy To The World for me...I keep looking for "Harmony" but haven't been able to find a copy yet. But for a band like this a compilation is good enough for my needs.

Re: Three Dog Night

There is another compilatio, regarded as the best for content and sound

I Believe its called "CELEBRATE The Three Dog Night Story"

The album features all the hits, plus some deep album cuts, and even
a few pre-Three Dog Night Demos. Originally The Dogs were called Redwood
and were discovered and produced by Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys..One of those
Wilson/ tracks is on the album...

I think its a double album...its hands down the best,

Incidentally,, with all the bad vibes between Chuck Negron, versus Cory Wells and Danny Hutton... I guess some settlement was reached several years ago, and Chuck
was given ownership of 3-4 of the albums...as his settlement..

anyway he released a new Three Dog Night live album... about a year ago. and its
great,,, taken from concerts in 1972-73 at the peak of their powers..it illustrates
just how good they were live.

Also Chuck Negron has five solo albums , two proper studio albums called
"Am I still in your heart" 1995
"The Long Road Back" 1999

as well as a christmas album -1996
a live album Chuck Negron in concert- 2002?? I forget

and he has a new Best of album.. featuring his rendition of
several of his Three Dog hits, as well as more recent material
and a few new tracks on the album as a bonus

Chuck also is author of the huge selling book, "Three Dog Nightmare"

Chuck has been sober over 20 years now, and it shows, five albums..
and a book

In that same time, The official Three Dog, has released four new songs over
that same 20 year period.Although they claim to be preparing their first album
in 30 years

Do me a favor listen to Chuck, and then the new Three Dog song...and tell me which one you think sounds like Three Dog!

That ladies and gents, is the "real" three dog night.. in my opinion
Chuck sounds like Three DOg,,, Danny and Cory, sound more like
waxworks that were defrosted to make a payment on a new swimming
pool... they sit lifeless and grey on stools, while Chuck seemingly ageless
bounces around, hitting incredibly high notes,...

Re: Three Dog Night

A little Celebrate for a bump here

This is some pretty cool footage from Soundstage. Which was a great live in studio show back in the day. The ony thing that bugged me was that the original band is not here and were not together at this point.

This was 1975.

7 Original members for Three Dog Night...and I always looked at them as a 5 piece and that the singer was a three headed front man. :heheh:

Well in this case...it looks like it's just the three headed singer minus, Joe (RIP), Flyd, Mike and Jimmy. Musically it doesn't have the same excitement but a great clip either way, and I show many fans are happy to own a copy of.
