2011 Ronnie Hammond, the lead singer of The Atlanta Rhythm Section, died of heart failure at the age of 60. He led the band to two Billboard Top Ten hits, 'So Into You' in 1977 and 'Imaginary Lover' in 1978.

1963 - Gerry & the Pacemakers released their first British single, "How Do You Do It."

1965 - Petula Clark made her American TV debut on CBS' "Ed Sullivan Show."

1977 - The Heart album "Little Queen" was released. It contained the song "Barracuda."

1992 - Farm Aid was attended by about 40,000 people in Irving, TX.

1995 - Prince released the single "Purple Medley."

2015 Mike Porcaro bassist with Toto died following a battle with Lou Gehrig's Disease. He was the middle brother of Toto members Jeff Porcaro and Steve Porcaro. Toto who formed in 1978 are best known for such classic rock hits as 'Hold the Line,' 'Rosanna' and 'Africa' and won an Album of the Year Grammy for 1982's Toto IV.

2002 Marshall Leib of The Teddy Bears died of a heart attack at the age of 63. Leib, along with Carol Connors and Phil Spector, scored a Billboard chart topper in 1958 with "To Know Him Is To Love Him".

1975, Led Zeppelin went to No.1 on the album chart with the double album ‘Physical Graffiti’, the first on their own ‘Swan Song’ label, the album spent six weeks at No.1 on the chart.
