1978: Gerry Rafferty released “Baker Street” which went on to reach number two on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart making it his most successful solo single in the U.S.
1979: To commemorate the twentieth anniversary of the plane crash that took the lives of Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, & Ritchie Valens, a sold out concert took place at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, IA where the performers performed for the last time. On the bill was Del Shannon, The Drifters & Jimmy Clanton.
