1974: Lynyrd Skynyrd peaked at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart with “Sweet Home Alabama” their first and only top ten single in the U.S.

1980: Jefferson Starship guitarist Paul Kantner suffered a stroke during a recording session in Los Angeles. He would make a full recovery.
