1971 Great White guitarist Ty Longley enters the world. He dies in the ’03 pyrotechnics fire at The Station trying to save others.

2016 The classic Misfits lineup of Glenn Danzig, Jerry Only and Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein reunite for first time since ‘83 to headline the Riot Fest (in Denver). Dave Lombardo (Slayer) is on drums.

1964: The Animals gave their debut performance in Brooklyn, NY, at the U.S. Paramount Theater.

1991: Dottie West died at the age of 58. She died from injuries incurred in a car accident 5 days earlier. West was the first female country Grammy winner.

1970: The Rolling Stones released their second live LP, Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out!. Largely recorded at New York’s Madison Square Garden in late November of 1969, it became the first live album to reach #1 in UK and is often cited as one of the greatest live albums of all time.

1973: Queen’s self-titled debut studio album was released in the US following its UK release in July.

1995: Jethro Tull’s nineteenth studio album, Roots to Branches, was released in the UK. Recorded at Ian Anderson’s home studio, it was the band’s last album with bassist Dave Pegg, first with keyboardist Andrew Gidding as an official member, and last released through their long-time label Chrysalis Records. The was album released in the US eight days later.

1991 - R.E.M. won the Video of the Year award for "Losing My Religion", in addition to Best Group Video and Breakthrough Video, and were nominated in three other categories.

1964 The Animals had their only number one hit on Billboard's Hot 100 when "House of the Rising Sun" reached the top. To promote the group in the US, disc jockeys were sent boxes of animal crackers wrapped with special promotional material. The band would continue to turn out hits like "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" (#13), "We Gotta Get Out of This Place" (#13), "It's My Life" (#23), "Don't Bring Me Down" (#12), "See See Rider" (#10), "San Franciscan Nights" (#9) and "Monterey" (#15) before splitting up at the end of the decade.

1946 Rock drummer Buddy Miles (of The Electric Flag and Jimi Hendrix's Band Of Gypsys) is born George Allen Miles Jr. in Omaha, Nebraska. His grandmother calls him "Buddy" after jazz drummer Buddy Rich.

1946 Dean Ford (lead singer for Marmalade) is born Thomas McAleese in Coatbridge, Scotland.

1946 Queen frontman Freddie Mercury is born as Farrokh Bulsara in Zanzibar (a set of islands off the coast of Africa).

1949 Rock guitarist Dave "Clem" Clempson (of Humble Pie) is born in Tamworth, Staffordshire, England.

2025, Mark Volman, American vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter died after a brief illness at the age of 78. He was best known as a founding member of the 1960s rock band the Turtles, and, along with his bandmate and friend Howard Kaylan, a member of the 1970s rock duo Flo & Eddie. Volman also joined Frank Zappa’s band, The Mothers of Invention.
