I could write volumes of chapters as to why The Jam are a far superior Rock Band to The Who.
For one thing, The Who are overrated, and The Jam are underrated.
People in the music media are always talking about how great some Bands are when they are just mediocre and under performers.
Queen and The Rolling Stones are two of the worst offenders and so are The Who.
All 3 of those Bands have made a small percentage of excellent songs, yet a large percentage are not quality songs.

Whereas The Jam only produced top quality music all through their recording career.
Their list of great songs is too long to print here.
I've always rated "Down in a Tube Station at Midnight" as one of the best songs in music history.
The lyrics and the story telling of Paul Weller is first class.
The Punk n New Wave Bands were far more vibrant and genuine and honest and energised.

Ironically, in 1964 The Who were a Punk Band, they were wild and dangerous, for a short period of time.

The Jam were a very tight n punchy 3-piece combo.

The Who's album "Quadrophenia" is directionless, dull and boring meanderings.

There are quite a few songs by The Who that I like a lot " I Can't Explain" "I Can See for Miles" "Pictures of Lily" "You Better You Bet" "Substitute."
"The Kids are Alright" "Won't Get Fooled Again".

I get far more pleasure and excitement from listening to music by THE JAM.
In a very loud voice "This is a Modern World!!!!!!!!"
