What an album & song..the cake on the album cover was baked by a very young..now TV cook, Delia Smith.
Think i have 6 varying vinyl copies of this- the red mono version being of the most interest..'Jock' made the tea for the studio crew and band.
Looking forward to the 50th anniversary edition and buying this album for the umpteenth time.
Great song great album.
In a super great run of albums. Perhaps unequaled.
Beggars Banquet (1968)
Let It Bleed (1969)
Sticky Fingers (1971)
Exile on Main St. (1972)
Goats Head Soup (1973)
It's Only Rock 'n Roll (1974)
Yup the Mick Taylor years.
Seems there is no additional material though..the Trident Sessions were a 'run in' for Mick Taylor. Blood Red Wine, Downtown Suzie, Leather Jacket, Aladdin Story etc..whilst recording You Can't Always Get...Charlie couldn't master the drum part after a verse..no ego and the gent that he is..allowed Jimmy Miller to take the stool and perform said section which to this day the majority of stick work on YCAGWYW is actually Jimmy.
Years ago if cheeky enough the studio man let you into Barnes or Morgan or De Lane Lea..a ten spot often sweetened the deal.
It's gas that ABKCO now run these things. When the Beatles recommended Allen Klien as a Mr.Fixit and as a lucrative alternative to Decca and Sir Edward Lewis..they soon realised Loog had fried them and he had his hooks in them for life. The Stones tried to grab the Mussel Shoal takes as theirs for Sticky Fingers..but AK were'nt ' avin it!
