Original DOKKEN Lineup To Reunite For New Album, Tour - Feb. 22, 2010
On Sunday, February 21, guitarist George Lynch (LYNCH MOB, SOULS OF WE, DOKKEN) was interviewed by host Jim Alvino on the "Turn It Up" show on the WSCA 106.1 FM radio station. Topics of discussion included new albums by SOULS OF WE and LYNCH MOB; songwriting; recording with other artists; and LYNCH MOB's November 2009 West Coast shows as the support act for DOKKEN. During the chat, Lynch also revealed that he has been writing songs for a new DOKKEN album with the band's classic 1980s lineup.

An excerpt from the interview follows below.

Turn It Up: The shows that you did at the end of last year, with LYNCH MOB opening for DOKKEN, and at the end the classic lineup of DOKKEN playing together again, has that now blown up into that lineup working together again?

George Lynch: "Yes, actually it has. And that's something that isn't gonna happen for a little while. We all have our respective commitments, meaning Jeff, Mick, Don and myself are all real busy this year doing other things. But we've all made a commitment to each other to dedicate ourselves to getting back together. We've already got three songs on the table and we're gonna continue to write throughout the year and put the whole business together and probably go in the studio late fall or early winter of this year and then have a record out toward late spring of next year, and then hit the road."

The entire 27-minute interview in which Lynch discusses the new DOKKEN material offers an update on SOULS OF WE will be re-aired during "Turn It Up" on Saturday, February 27 at 6:00 p.m. EST.

"Turn It Up" is a two-hour radio show that focuses on new and classic hard rock and heavy metal.

All the original members of DOKKEN reunited on stage for the first time in more than a decade on November 29, 2009 at the House of Blues in Anaheim, California. According to Andrew Youssef of the OC Weekly, Don Dokken appeared on stage and said he had some friends he wanted to introduce. Jeff Pilson (original bassist) and George Lynch (guitar) joined Mick Brown (drums) for a two-song encore of "When Heaven Comes Down" and "In My Dreams".

Watch fan-filmed video footage of the performance below.

DOKKEN's Anaheim, San Diego (Nov. 28) and Hollywood (Nov. 27) shows featured support from LYNCH MOB in what marked the first time ever that the two bands had shared the stage. (Note: DOKKEN and LYNCH MOB played together at the October 2009 Loud Park festival in Japan, but they did not perform on the same stage.)

"Almost Over", the new brand new single from DOKKEN, has been made available for purchase via iTunes and Amazon.com. An audio sample of the track can be streamed at this location.

"Almost Over" will be included on DOKKEN's upcoming greatest-hits package — a collection of all-new versions of tracks such as "Dream Warriors", "Breaking the Chains" and "Just Got Lucky", paired two new songs and two covers (including a version of "Lies", originally recorded by THE KNICKERBOCKERS) — which will be released ibn the spring worldwide on Cleopatra's Deadline Records imprint.

DOKKEN has sold well over 10 million albums worldwide and continues to tour and enjoy media exposure courtesy of the successful web commercials for Norton Internet Security 2010, the latest virus, spyware and Internet protection software from Symantec. The comedic spots imagine a computer as a chicken and DOKKEN as a malicious computer virus. Each ad features a different outcome, based on whether or not the "Dokken Virus" was allowed into the system.

DOKKEN's latest album "Lightning Strikes Again", was released on May 13, 2008 via Rhino Records. The CD is DOKKEN's tenth studio album and it "mark[ed] a true and definite return" to the band's classic sound, according to a press release.

In addition to the regular European version of "Lightning Strikes Again", Frontiers Records released a special limited edition of the CD on April 11, 2008 in a glossy slipcase. The limited-edition version included an exclusive bonus track for Europe, entitled "Sunset Superstar".

GEORGE LYNCH Says He 'Misspoke' When He Announced Reunion Of Classic DOKKEN Lineup - Feb. 24, 2010
Legendary guitarist George Lynch (LYNCH MOB, SOULS OF WE, DOKKEN) is in damage-control mode these days and wants to retract any of his earlier statements concerning a possible reunion of the classic lineup of DOKKEN. According to an official press release, Lynch "apologizes for being preemptive and [claims that he] just simply misspoke in his excitement." He says, "We are TALKING about a possible reunion for 2011, but it's still in early stages!"

All the members of DOKKEN's classic 1980s lineup reunited on stage for the first time in more than a decade on November 29, 2009 at the House of Blues in Anaheim, California. According to Andrew Youssef of the OC Weekly, Don Dokken appeared on stage and said he had some friends he wanted to introduce. In an interview that aired on the February 21 edition of the "Turn It Up" show on the WSCA 106.1 FM radio station, Lynch stated that LYNCH MOB's West Coast run of shows as the support act for DOKKEN inspired the four members of DOKKEN's classic lineup to begin working together again. "Yes, actually it has," he was quoted as saying. "And that's something that isn't gonna happen for a little while. We all have our respective commitments, meaning Jeff, Mick, Don and myself are all real busy this year doing other things. But we've all made a commitment to each other to dedicate ourselves to getting back together.
