Ahhh, the Pogues. I spent much of my childhood riding around in my dads car as he played The Pogues through his speaker system. They're pretty good I must say, but the lead singer sounds VERY drunk in many of the recorded songs.

He sounds drunk because he IS drunk. Shane Macgowan practically lived (and probably still does) in one ginormous drinking binge mixed will a load of drugs too. He's terribly self destructive and it shows but a alcohol soaked slur would well for the very Irish swagger of The Pogues' music if you ask me.

Poor old Shane. He's his own worst enemy but he did do some great songs with the Pogues
