Link Wray - Please Please Me.
The self-titled from '71, was the first Link Wray album I heard (the whole album is on the "Wray's Three Track Shack" compilation) and it remains my favourite Link record. I was so happy when they finally reissued it on vinyl in 2017. They reissued "Beans And Fatback" and "Be What You Want To" the same year and hopefully more will follow at some point.
The following article is the perfect tribute to Link:
Thanks Sharp Dressed Man..sums up the underrated thread in one go...made utterly brilliant reading..much obliged.
The album Three Track Shack yeah I've got it and it isn't 50s style rock & roll but delta swamp music I suppose it mite be called and it's a very good listen.
Richard Branson took a punt signing Link onto the new Virgin label..this sold well-but not as much as the flagship seller Tubular Bells..still Beans And Fatback is a swell album.
