Where do I start with this band?

They formed in Prestwich, Greater Manchester in 1976 and have had many many band members, the only consistent and original member is lead singer / front man Mark E Smith.

It would seem that he gets a new band for most of his albums so you see a new line up evert time you see them. Mark has reportedly said, " If it's me and your granny on bongos, then it's The Fall ". They were linked with punk but I dind it hard to categorize them as they are unique.

They have had many studio albums / live albums / compilation albums / singles and ep's and have played many shows and festivals.

This band are a joy to see and have a huge following, can't believe there is no thread or even that I have not put on here. When playing live Mark has a habbit of unplugging wires and singing in to about 5 mics, he also has a habbit of coming on long after the band have started and not doing encores unless he feels like it.

......Cant believe so many line up changes. Hire em fire em . Mark E Smith makes Richie Blackmore a considerably "nice bloke" .
Back in the old John Peel DJ days, THE FALL was Peelys favourite band. I must admit I didnt like them. He couldnt sing, they couldnt play what was the fuss about?
Then I was talked into seeing them by a friend who knew I liked alternative music. SWELL MAPS the art/punk band being one of my fave bands at the time.
Yeah, saw THE FALL in the early 80s at Burnley football club and was won over....they did have a certain something.
Saying that, I have never purchased any of their material. My son loves THE FALL. one word to describe THE FALLs singer Mark E Smith.............character

Listening to "Couldn't Get Ahead" and "Rollin' Danny" put me in mind of the house on Foljambe Rd Sweat, I used to play those two tracks quite a lot. And this odd little track.

I forget how many I have but it is double figures, I will eventually have them all I think, they are another one off band that do their own thing, once Mark calls it a day the band will be finished.
