The Black Dahlia Murder
Melodic Death/Horror Metal

Out of Waterford Michigan (often attributed to Detroit) comes one of the most influential Death Metal bands from the states. Their name is inspired by the unsolved murder of Elizabeth Smart -- the most brutal case of its' kind in California history. To date, they have 4 albums under Metal Blade Records, and have brought more focused attention to the American Metal scene, especially following "Nocturnal".

My daughter likes this group. They are just a tad extreme for my tastes. I will say one thing for the vocals, atleast you can understand what they are saying in the growls/screams.

The beats are insanely fast

Awesome thread cutthroat! I wasn't really a fan of BDM till Shannon Lucas joined the band though. That dude just shreds on the drums. A couple of my favorites. Hope you don't mind!

The happenings with Shannon Lucas were mostly coincidental: Theyd come off their largely experimental album (Miasma, which kinda flopped), were cut a little more slack in the cash department, and Brian took the reins on song writing. Needless to say: Brian is amazing.
Now they've got Ryan Knight who co-wrote...
"Christ Deformed"

And the one METALPRIEST posted earlier: "I Will Return" -- Easily their most epic song to date.

I haven't heard much except these which were posted from their newest album. "I Will Return" was pretty awesome. I think I liked "Christ Deformed" a little more though. I'll have to listen to some more of this album for sure.
