'Nother 50:
397. It's Tricky- Run-D.M.C.
389. Mary Jane's Last Dance- Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
374. What's Up- 4 Non Blondes
360. Round and Round- Ratt
355. White & Nerdy- Weird Al Yankovic
Great tunes that I'd like to shine a little bit of light on as well.
397 - probably the only hip-hop kind of song I can actually stand; it's just so funky - how can anyone resist that one?
389 - I was just singing this yesterday in the car. I went through this ridiculous Tom Petty phase once as a kid and again shortly after I graduated from HS. It continues to be a fabulous song, and one in which the lyrics flow so well with each other, that I could almost call it a masterpiece.
374 - that one brings me back. I almost forgot about it. I do believe 4 Non Blondes featured Earle Mankey (who was in Sparks when they were still Halfnelson) but I might be mistaken. Funny how things in the music world kind of intertwine like that. Either way I remember listening to that one, as a kid. (Really young, in fact.)
360 - Ah, kind memories of teenage romance. Ratt kicked ass!
355 - I love Weird Al. This song is just brilliant; it's pretty much the story of my life, magnified a few hundred times, and parodied. My youngest sister and I love singing it in the car.
244. Back In The Saddle- Aerosmith
243. Take It On The Run- REO Speedwagon
239. War Pigs- Black Sabbath
218. Sympathy For The Devil- The Rollings Stones
244 - This song bears significance with me because I clearly remember playing it a few hours after I came out of the hospital when I was very ill as a teenager. Recovery, straight away.
243 - Is there anywhere on earth that doesn't have a bunch of people who love singing this song? It's just so melodic and fun, even though it's not really meant to be taken lightly.
239 - The first time I heard this song I was completely driven to tears. Don't ask me why; it affected me in a positive way and from time to time I cite it as being a lyrical/political masterpiece.
218 - Another song that just really makes you think. There's a fine cover on the record I was spinning earlier. ;D *nudge*
You need more of the Who, Jethro Tull, James Brown, Leslie Gore and the Dixie Cups in there though.
Hep, she might be my sister, but she's got a greater musical knowledge than I do in the modern world.
But I do agree.
Get on it, missy.
I suggest you educate yourself on the innocent ways of 60s girl groups. You must get into the poodle skirt mode before we go ballroom dancing, miss.
