Alvin Lee (Guitar), Leo Lyons (Bass), Chick Churchill (Keys) and Rick Lee(Drums), four great musicians from the midlands area of England, they got together after moving to London and soon built up a strong reputation as a live act.

Ten Years After played at the Windsor Jazz Festival in 1967 the performance led to a record deal with Deram part of Decca. The first band to do so without a hit single the result was the ST debut album.

My personal favourite album of theres is-

ROCK & ROLL MUSIC TO THE WORLD from 1972.

Strangely past rock reviews of this album from the 1970s never seem to rate it that highly for some strange reason and yet theres a whole host of great blues/rock & rock tracks on it??. :D

Yeah they were ok for there time and were especially BIG in the USA after there apperance at the Woodstock festival in August 1969 and there subsequent appearence in the Woodstock movie in 1970 featured playing a long'ish version of I'M GOING HOME.

CRICKLEWOOD GREEN from 1970 is probably there 'classic album' though.

Alvin Lee was quite a good musician and quite experimental as well with not only playing blues/rock but also rock & roll, blues, jazz and even early electronic music on some TYA albums.
