How would you rate this album.
9: Superb. Side one I would rate a 10. "Jeremy Bender" on side two is the only flaw IMO.
Excellent or 8 on Joe's rating scale, not my personal favorite ELP record but it is a Belter for sure.
It's second only to Brain Salad Surgery in ELP's discography, IMO.
I have a different one as my top pick Belexes...
Yeah the first one is just special, it has sentimental value and one of the most important albums I heard when I was discovering all these fabulous English prog bands. I know most people have Brain...or Tarkus rated higher but I still play the debut the most.
I agree that it's excellent. "Take a Pebble" and "Lucky Man" are beautiful.
Knife's Edge and Barbarian also show their heavier side, an excellent debut.
I think I will play Tarkus tonight myself, Joe's poll has me in the mood for some ELP and a cold beer.
