Sum 41 is a candian pop punk band. They have 5 studio albums. My favorite album by them is Chuck. Chuck had more of a mature sound and their original lead guitarist Dave Brown Sound was able to put his metal style guitar playing to use with this album. Over the years the subject matter of the songs has drifted off from your normal pop punk teen angst to more political themes or with other themed messages. Of the late 90's-2000's pop punk bands Sum 41 is my favorite.

Here are mt favorite songs by the band

I really like Sum 41:grinthumb

Fat Lip and In Too Deep were some of the first rock songs I really listened to, and I still listen to them now.. I actually didn't like most of Chuck though.. I do agree that it has a more mature sound than the others, Greg, but I don't think that's what I'm looking for from Sum 41.. not a bad album though.. I really like the first two better:D

Ebeg, Ilove the first two albums Half Hour of Power and All Killer No Filler too. I just like Chuck because it was heavier and more edgy. Here are some songs I like from all killer no filler.

I remember finding Chuck is maybe 2005/2006ish.. I know it came out earlier, but when I found it, it just didn't have that same feel as the others... I really liked (especially at the time) the rebellious, angsty sound.. you are right though, that Chuck is definitely edgier and a more mature sound.. I don't like the album much, but I can respect them for evolving like that.. I can respect them for that a lot:D

I have the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Sum 41 albums. I like the singles but the albums do little for me! You guys ever notice how similar the Sum 41 song "Pieces" and Coldplay's "The Scientist" is?

yeah it is still not as bad as coldplay's viva la vida which sounds like Joe Satriani's If I Could Fly.

this is an excellent example of sum 41' evolving. Much more metal sound than pop punk. Dave Brown Sound gave that band an edge.
