I cleaned up a lot of foreign spam last night.

I usually log in every morning and again every evening (late).

Our forum has filters that catches the bot spammers but the actual people who sign up and spam are impossible to catch until after they deposit their foreign spam.

The staff does their best to keep spam away and still keep the forum open for anyone to join.

I don’t want to start having to approve all new members. However, that could be possible if we start getting a lot of spam or trolls.
Is the Spam cleaner configured?;)

I changed a few settings which is throwing these new spam members into “moderation” . Hopefully this will improve the amount of spam seen on the forum

I ran a VBB for years, and it’s definitely admin user friendly. This forum is on Xenforo, which isn’t as user friendly as VBB, but its features & options are so much better. I have not ran a SMF board, however, its posting features for members is awful. Very old fashion like the MyBB boards.

Just wondered if a new member signs up if an url link is restricted until they reach 25 or 50 posts? Or perhaps restrict new members until a post has been posted and approved in the introductions area?

New members can't post in certain forums until they have 100 posts, but they can post in the main forums. Maybe something like restricting new members to an intro forum until they've been approved might stop some of the spam?
