This was a tough nut to crack Cosmic...I could have persuaded myself to vote for Simon if he had released two more solo albums of the quality of Graceland I would have.

But Macca has just got a more impressive body of work so I'll give him my vote.

I did. While McCartney is a better composer by miles, Simon is a much better lyricist in my opinion. McCartney is the master of catchy pop hits (and I mean that as a compliment, not a put-down, as there is a lot going on musically in most of the Beatles songs that were easily digested by the masses through top 40 radio), but I don't think he has written anything as substantive and powerful as The Boxer, for example.

^^You make a good case TW, I almost voted for Simon because of the quality of his work. But Macca has also done a lot of really good songs as well and I am not going to hold him being popular or writing lightweight fun songs against him.
