A Gothic metal band that incorporates a lot of different things from symphonic to even death metal elements in parts. I first got into them funny enough from a metal reviewer bashing the hell out of them. Funny how criticism can actually make people like a band. Their recent output in The Enigma of Life was put out in 2011, with mixed reviews, I for one loved it. Thought this forum could use a thread on this group, did a search and couldn't find one.

Couple of my favourite songs to check out.
At Sixes and Sevens

I recommend this band to those who enjoy Symphonic Metal, I see them more as Symphonic anyway as opposed to Gothic.

Re: Sirenia

I think SIRENIA are a really good band Riff and seriously cant think how anybody can find criticism in them or their music . You did right to ignore any bad review.......probably some young upstart who wants to be contreversial and try to make a name for himself in a magazine.
I featured SIRENIA in the " What is Gothic metal ? " thread , yes symphonic metal.....but gothic enough to be mentioned. Good to see another fan....:cheers2

Glad to see people here do dig them, I put them alongside Epica, Within Temptation, Nightwish for not only awesome symphonic bands but fantastic female fronted bands.

A great band....all the versions. Morton really has good control over what he wants to put out, no matter who's singing.

Early Sirenia is close to early Tristania, for obvious reasons.

Has anyone heard Morton's "solo" album as Mortemia? Very similar to what he does with Sirenia, but no female vocals.

Can't wait to get the new album, I can't believe it's been 2 years already.

^ That song is very reminiscent of their early work, equal parts instrumentals, chorals, Morton & Ailyn. And a great video too.

I always thought Morton was less "cookie monster" vocals & more "Popeye the Sailor" vocals, he's always sounded like that to me.

This is another song from the upcoming album. Vocals by Joakim Næss. A very different song for Sirenia.

^^ I cannot wait for that one!!! "Perils of the Deep Blue" was one of my favourite metal albums of 2013 and was the band's best album since "Nine Destinies and a Downfall" imo. Oh and once again the artwork is awesome!
