Shape of Despair is a funeral doom metal band from Finland. They formed in 1995 originally as Raven. Their music, which can be described as slow, atmospheric, gothic, and cold, is composed using keyboards, flutes and violins, with very slow drums and grinding guitar chords. They are comparable to the band Skepticism, but their songs are a bit more symphonic.
Very cool band, very soothing IMO.

SoD are a GREAT band! I don't know if I would be able to pick a favourite song, though, they have too many good ones. I'd have to say that Angels of Distress would be my favourite album. I haven't listened to it in a while, though. This thread makes me want to spin it again.
