Savoy Brown was originally known as the Savoy Brown Blues Band. They were a major player in the British Blues movement of the late `60s. I started listening to them when they released Raw Sienna in 1970, a excellent album with the haunting track "Needle and Spoon". The next few albums that caught my attention was Hellbound Train in 1972, Jack The Toad in 1973 and Boogie Brothers in 1974 after that I kind of lost track of them with the exception of the few albums mentioned that I replaced with CDs.....until their latest release Voodoo Moon!

Ah Garrett .. you always pull out some interesting bands.. Now I don't have a whole lot to say about these guys.. I do have a couple of their albums.. But they are soooo retro to me so I don't spin them.. But my older cousins used to listen to them when I was really little.. so I picked up the albums thinking if they listen to that band then they must be cool.

These are the albums I have..

:wtf: Sounds like he's being pulled by the short hairs when he sings..
Check out Foghats version..
He kinda sounds like he's having a difficult bowel movement..:wtf:

Re: Savoy Brown

Yeah, there is a strong connection between the two bands, Dave Peverett, Tony Stevens and Roger Earl left Savoy Brown to start Foghat.

Great band Garrett "Blue Matter" is a big fave of mine, Also I think Chris Youlden has one of the best blues voices us Brits have to offer. :grinthumb

Re: Savoy Brown

I use to like this blues/rock band (still do a bit) and there 1970s albums such as RAW SIENNA, LOOKING IN, STREET CORNER TALKING, HELLBOUND TRAIN, LIONS SHARE, JACK THE TOAD, BOOGIE BROTHERS, WIRE FIRE, SKIN 'n' BONE & SAVAGE RETURN.

I use to have all the above cd released albums and there 1960s albums like BLUE MATTER & A STEP FURTHER when Decca/London re-released them all back in the early 1990s here in the UK but unforunately all these albums have since the late 1990s been deleted in the UK.

Re: Savoy Brown

I hope so Garrett, I wanted to see Kim down in Northampton a couple of years ago but just couldn't make it. This will more than make up for it.

I picked this CD up a few years back and it gives a good flavour of the live sets between '69 and '72.
