The only one of those I didn't have on vinyl was the self titled Debut. I think looking back 2112 was the big turning point, where Rush became just more confident/polished on every level, and there was no stopping them after that.
My favorite album is coming up after Permanent Waves.
Permanent Waves got my attention when I heard "Spirit Of The Radio", loved the reggae style interlude in the song. I used to love the old days buying vinyl albums the new release would come out and many times the stores would have all the earlier albums on sale and displayed altogether. When I bought PW, I picked up Fly By Night and Caress of Steel, for $3.99 each.
I'm going to sneak my favorite Rush album in while MP is sleeping. I am talking about "Moving Pictures", which I feel is the best album Rush ever recorded. I have it in my top 50 albums of all time, considering I have over 4,000 albums now that is high praise indeed. When I bought this album and my friends all popped over on a Friday after work and played it, they were just stunned into a respectful silence. It just holds together so well, the songs, the musicianship, the production quality all came together and this was the result. I give this one a 10/10, one of the few "Perfect" albums in my opinion.
The first song I heard on the radio, and I bought the album that day.
