I knew there was a reason that you always seem to remain on my good side Eberg! :grinthumb You're a cool dude!

:lmao:

someone could call you all kinds of names, but as long as they say something nice about SP they'll be on your good side huh?:heheh::tongue:

seriously though, SP was one of those things that I really had to open my mind to get into because they are obviously very different compared to what I usually listen to, and what I finally figured out was, you have to look really hard, but you can hear the influences from the older bands I like, but they just took those influences and warped them sooooooo... far out of what really anyone else could warp them too... and the result is great.. that is true art.. its what I try to do when I write music, doesn't really work that well for me.. but hey, I try:heheh:
but thats the same reason I like Tom petty so much, look at the music he grew up on and was influenced by...and look what he created, obviously he did pay tribute to them very much so wiht songs like The Waiting, you can see obvious Byrds influence.. and some of the acoustic songs you can hear a lot of the country he grew up on.... but then songs like Listen To Her Heart.. where have you ever heard that before it came out?...

and speaking of Petty, and because I should really probably type an essay instead of this.....

playing my all time favorite acoustic guitar right there too:grinthumb

and a collaboration with Stevie Nicks...

:heheh:^^
I could post a few more off some of Petty's later albums, but maybe I should save them for a petty thread;)
a BIG thread, I think I might aim for more "epic" than the Alice Cooper thread OP... I think i can do it for petty, but here's some more "beautiful" songs, I have been listening to my ipods a whole lot, I haven't felt like being bothered with getting up to change the record or radio station, so

--a very favorite song of mine

Marillion ~ Lavender

I was walking in the park
Dreaming of a spark
When I heard the sprinklers whisper
Shimmer in the haze of summer lawns.
Then I heard the children singing
They were running through the rainbows.
They were singing a song for you
Well it seemed to be a song for you
The one I wanted to write for you

Lavenders blue, dilly dilly, lavenders green
When I am King, dilly dilly
You will be Queen
A penny for your thoughts my dear
A penny for your thoughts my dear
I.O.U. for your love
I.O.U. for your love

Lavenders green, dilly dilly, lavenders blue
When you love me, dilly dilly, I will love you
A penny for your thoughts my dear
A penny for your thoughts my dear
I.O.U. for your love
I.O.U. for your love

Lavender dreams dilly, dilly lavender true
When you miss me dilly dilly, I did miss you
A penny for your thoughts my dear
A penny for your thoughts my dear
I.O.U for your love
I.O.U. for your love
For your love

An absolute gorgeous Counting Crows song!

Counting Crows-Colorblind

I am color...blind
Coffee black and egg white
Pull me out from inside
I am ready
I am ready
I am ready
I am
taffy stuck, tongue tied
Stuttered shook and uptight
Pull me out from inside
I am ready
I am ready
I am ready
I am...fine
I am covered in skin
No one gets to come in
Pull me out from inside
I am folded, and unfolded, and unfolding
I am
colorblind
Coffee black and egg white
Pull me out from inside
I am ready
I am ready
I am ready
I am...fine
I am.... fine
I am fine

When the Crows do a song good, they do it bloody good. As I discovered when I listened to Carriage:

:grinthumb

I'm also throwing in some Sarah and Lisa, just cause everything they do is beautiful :)

Alot of nice music in here

LOVE ~ John Lennon

Love is real , real is love
Love is feeling , feeling love
Love is wanting to be loved

Love is touch, touch is love
Love is reaching, reaching love
Love is asking to be loved

Love is you
You and me
Love is knowing
we can be

Love is free, free is love
Love is living, living love
Love is needing to be loved

I can't believe I've not posted Pete Murray yet! Every song of his is beautiful in it's own way :D

I'll do one from each album:

Tim Buckley ~ Song to the Siren

Introduction by Mickey Dolenz. Tim's appearance on the Monkees television show.

Long afloat on shipless oceans
I did all my best to smile
'Til your singing eyes and fingers
Drew me loving to your isle
And you sang
Sail to me
Sail to me
Let me enfold you
Here I am
Here I am
Waiting to hold you
Did I dream you dreamed about me?
Were you hare when I was fox?
Now my foolish boat is leaning
Broken lovelorn on your rocks,
For you sing, "Touch me not, touch me not, come back tomorrow:
O my heart, O my heart shies from the sorrow"

I am puzzled as the newborn child
I am troubled at the tide:
Should I stand amid the breakers?
Should I lie with Death my bride?
Hear me sing, "Swim to me, Swim to me, Let me enfold you:
Here I am, Here I am, Waiting to hold you"
