Re: Rainbow

I have All of Rainbow's albums, and like MP said many line-up changes over the years but they still released some great stuff.

Thanks MP I would have gotten around to them this week if you didn't...

Ditto here! I have all of the Rainbow albums as well. As Annie stated, 'Rising' was the first Rainbow lp that I bought when it was first released way back in the 1970's. I have so many favorite songs/albums of this band, I wouldn't know where to start. But I give it a try. ;)

Man On The Silver Mountain
Sixteenth Century Greensleeves
Snake Charmer
Catch The Rainbow (the song was amazing live)
Stargazer
Run With The Wolf
A Light In The Black

Kill The King

Gates Of Babylon

Long Live Rock and Roll
Eyes Of The World
Lost In Hollywood

:)

I'll have to come back to this thread, again and again! :heheh: There are many more to follow.

Rainbow must've done more cover versions of Russ Ballard songs than almost anyone else, with the exception of Mr. Ballard, that is!

Great music, memories, songs as well as experiences!

Re: Rainbow

After posting the cool vid for DEATH ALLEY DRIVER I was thinking about Straight Between The Eyes as a whole.

Here is another great jam from the Joe Lynn Turner years. :grinthumb

You can hear elements from the original version of Beatles: Tomorrow Never Knows which always struck me as a possible influence for Ritchie in this song.

Re: Rainbow

Listening to "Tarot Woman" on Rising now - glorious!!

Now it's "Run With the Wolf" - Dio's voice is spine chilling

Re: Rainbow

Saw these' guys in '82 (I think) with Joe Lynn Turner. Couldn't take my eyes off Blackmore. He made it look so easy.

I got hold of Rainbow Rising and Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow about 79` and soon after purchased...

A cracker of an album IMO. I am also a big fan of "Down To Earth" infact it's among the one's I like best and play the most. Rainbow were a great band.

Re: Rainbow

Rainbow are excellent, Richie is fantastic and has such a distinct sound, I love Dio on vocals, the best singer for them IMO but hey everyone's different.

"Down to Earth" is my favorite Rainbow album too. I love Ronnie James Dio's voice but when it comes to fronting Rainbow I like Gram the most.
