I'm more a fan of Q mag than NME but both lists have several of my favorite albums of the year. Sort of surprised to see Arcade Fire's album at the top in both polls(#2 in NME). I love the album but thought most people thought it was a step backwards for them.

LCD Soundsystems new album was really good. Surprisingly NME gave it a #4 and Q Mag gave it a #23. (atleast it made the top 25 on both lists)

O Wow...Gorillaz "Plastic Beach" didn't fair to well on NME @ #66. I liked that album, too.

I have to agree with you AK, I think Q Mag is a bit more accurate by my tastes anyway.

YEah I'm surprised NME didn't rate Plastic Beach higher. In regards to the list both lists disregard americana and prog two things I also like but both are UK new music mags so I'm not surprised.

Actually I'm lukewarm on most of those groups and whilre I love new music I don't like a lot of hipster groups which seem to be the focus of these list. I do own and enjoy both Funeral and Neon Bible but honestly I haven't even bought the new album yet. There have been so many artist I love that have come out with music that aren't on this list because they are considered too mainstream but I love them a lot more. I do have the Grillaz album which i think is really good! I will have Kanye within a week as someone is picking up the Special Edition for me and I plan on getting Kings of Leon and First Aid Kit eventually. Aktivator, you know my taste by now, are there any recommendations from this list? :D

Same feelings here :grinthumb. Besides some big names like Tom Jones, Brian Ferry or Peter Gabriel the rest of them are total unknown names for me. I must do some researches :D.

Very much an indie kind of list, which is quite alright and what you'd expect from them. But when I see these kinds of lists I just have to wonder -- does anybody do a comprehensive list? Like, who does the most comprehensive lists? 'Cause everybody has their bias, that's cool and unavoidable, but I'd be fascinated to see a list that put together not just mostly the stuff I'm aware of but all kinds of things... from underground electronic black metal like WOLD, to modern classical, to top 40 pop, to midlevel indie rock... all kinds of crazy things... throat singing... anything, man. Wouldn't a list like that be cool? I think so... Like a list that specifically tries to be as diverse as possible, no two entries from the same subset.

Every mag has to have their own list, that's just how it is...so it appeals to their readers, that crowd and those music fans...would be cool to see something diverse. I'm all up for it. :grinthumb
