I loved their song A Salty Dog.

Although, the most memorable was probably A Whiter Shade of Pale

The band was known for incorporating classical music influence in their works. They are also known for being a poineer of progressive rock. This was some of Robin Trowers best guitar work, IMO, when he played with Procol Harum, although Trower was much more successful in his own trio.

Re: Procol Harum

Whiter Shade of Pale was recorded with our Symphony orchestra all those years ago. It is my favorite Procol Harum song by far.

Not the greatest album in my collection, but I love the cover.

Re: Procol Harum

Off topic but a few months ago a lawsuit was finally settled by England's highest court of appeal, and the original keyboard player Matthew Fisher won his claim that He was responsible for writing part of "A Whiter Shade of Pale" and is entitled to 50% of the royalties from the song. This is a landmark case in music history and might set a precedent as the court ruled there is no time limit on copywrite/ownership of music.
