Maybe we should move this thread.... ...forgot the name of it.....
anyway listened to the suggestions above on prog metal bands.
-Images and Words by DT was ok...well played by very good musicians but it lacked feeling at times for me...like they were trying to be heavy prog but with no soul in the tracks they wrote. Also played Metropolis -Scenes...liked that better...maybe.
-Mindcrime by Queensryche was boring to me...not impressed by either the songs or playing or approach of the band.
- I enjoyed Seventh Son and Powerslave by Maiden...had enough original hardrock mixed with prog metal and melody to hold my attention...favorite band of those I listened to. Number of the Beast was a bit too straight ahead (not enough prog elements) but interesting.
Also listened to Symphony X -New Mythology lp...I liked some of this also...prog metal with melody and intresting story lyrics. Might listen to another by them.
Of all of them I suppose Iron Maiden appealed to me the most on those 'proggy' ones.
It might be I'm too embedded in classic rock and old school prog rock and it may take a while before other heavier styles open up for me....we'll see.
BTW,....is Ozzy above showing us his IQ or age...?
