You're fortunate. YouTube is my only source for obscure music from this era. But, then, I haven't had anything to play vinyl on since the early 80's.Have both original lps on old vinyl.......lucky to find them a few years back.![]()
I've been collecting vinyl since I was about 16....went to college at 18 ...then started collecting again in1975 (age 24)when I got a real job. You're fortunate. YouTube is my only source for obscure music from this era. But, then, I haven't had anything to play vinyl on since the early 80's.
I'm still stuck on playing the same musical playlist (50's - present) that I've been playing for years. Rock (various genres), pop, trance, country, some classical, r&b. Occasionally, I add something new to the rotation of stuff I like. These days, the bands I play the most are Concrete Blonde, The Cranberries, Led Zeppelin, TYA, CCR, ARS, Cross Canadian Ragweed, .38 Special, and Blackhawk. I live in a Seniors-Only condominium now, so we keep the volume low. But I don't have to shovel snow or do yard work anymore. Always been into prog/ psych/ classic rock and some folk rock and jazz fusion but usually hunted the more obsure bands after 1980 since I had bought most of the reg classic rock earlier in life.
Always had a turntable and 'large speakers' but these days I dont play it that much except the odd week end or if I'm bored. I tend to be lazy and use Audio-Technica head phones thru the laptop....sounds even better that way than my tower speakers...but you dont get the bass thump on your body.
I have quite a few osbscure heavy psych rock and prog things on vinyl and some obscure and even rare things on cd thanks to a friend about 20 years ago who helped me find and even burned many obscure ones straight to cd.
I play mostly prog/classic rock , folk rock, and jazz fusion these days usually from 66-79....though there are a few modern bands I like..
