Hopefully my Jeff Lynne Birthday wish from Friday will be coming true according to Brian Williams on the NBC 2012 New Year's Eve show with Carson Daly!

All Jeff has to do is Release the album he has already recorded. It's been ready for a long time now, maybe he has gone back and fussed over some of the tracks again but I think he should just lob it out there and make his fans happy.:grinthumb

He's certainly being a bit of a perfectionalist on this one, and on the one he's producing for Joe Walsh. Not sure if it's Jeff or Joe holding up the works on that one.

I just wanna hear the albums already :wa

Yeah we have all known about this album. I thought maybe he was holding off
because Olivia Harrison said she was gonna ask him to spruce up some tracks
for "Brainwashed 2" you know additional unreleased songs from the Harrison
archives. Recently in public Olivia Harrison back pedaled from her previous
remarks about that. Now all of a sudden after several years of hide and seek
VOILA! Presto! Jeff Lynne's second ever solo album is ready! hmmm.

The things we will never know about behind the scenes are fascinating.
Jeff Lynne is a talented guy, he could probably whip out a worthy album
in 90 days or less if he felt like it. My personal opinion, he had more fun
recording with Harrison and Petty and Orbison, and at 64, with half his
friends dead, he just doesn't feel like doing it that often. The Lynne Walsh
pairing, seems like a no brainer. Should be fun and commercially succesful
for both of them. Not that either one of them is hurting for money.

You know Zoom was really a Jeff Lynne solo album but they
called it ELO< the album kind of bombed, true Richard Tandy played
on a few cuts, but it was a solo album. They used the name ELO
to sell more copies, and it didin't work.

I wonder if this is why there has been the long delay. If the ELO name
couldn't move units, and guest appearances by Harrison and Starr
what chance does a solo release under the name Jeff Lynne have of
striking hot sales.

I love the guys work, he isin't hurting for money, so I look forward to it also
but in theory at least, they do try and release money making product via the
record company.

^^In one way I am surprised Annie, you are one of his biggest supporters I know. But on the other hand even a true fan has a limit to their patience. It is Jeff's fault for teasing his fans like this. He has to know his best days are behind him musically, and that anything he does release will be for his old fans almost exclusively, and if you are feeling this way that doesn't bode well for him if he does release it this year.

Jeff Lynne is a genius of pop songwriting. I can't wait to hear what he's come up with.

And did I miss some announcements, annie? Was there an official release date set that fell through?
