cheers, those 4 pics are the decent statue of him in his hometown of Ballyshannon...but the other statue of him in Belfast is terrible, it bears no resemblance of him.
I didn't like that one either. I know Rory occasionally played a Tele, but anyone making a statue of him should of done more research on what his #1 guitar was.

With regards to 'Robo' in MOTORHEAD I have several times in the past (like many of you guy's probably have) that Lemmy claimed that he didn't think that Robo wanted to be in Motorhead although apparently 'Filthy Animal' Taylor was a BIG THIN LIZZY FAN and was very impressed that Robo was in the band.

Also I read either in Lemmy's book 'White Line Fever' or somewhere else that cos of Robo's attitude of being in Motorhead and appearing on stage at gigs wearing shorts and plimsoles (old times trainers) and a 1980s sweatband around his head one of the Hells Angels 'allegedly' told Lemmy that if he wanted Robo 'killed' it could be done?. Lemmy obviously told the 'Angel' NO THANKS!!. ;)

I've read both of these stories. Robo was kind of flamboyant and really didn't the Motörhead look. But he was one of the best guitarists on the R&R circuit at that time, so that's all that should have mattered.

My favourite MOTORHEAD era is at the very beginning when Lemmy formed MOTORHEAD with Larry Wallis on guitar & Lucas Fox on drums and recorded the ON PAROLE album in 1976 although the album wasn't released until 1979 to 'cash in' on MOTORHEAD'S growing popularity at that time. I have several cd copies of the 'On Parole album' plus a couple of vinyl albums as well. Also when 'Fifty Animal Taylor' joined replacing Lucas Fox on drums and 'Fast Eddie Clarke' joined on guitar and then Larry Wallis jumped ship at the same time and the band then re-recorded most of the On Parole album on Chiswick Records and put it out prior to the OVERKILL album being released in 1978 cos I like that early stuff that the band did.. ;)

I believe I once saw Filthy 'Animal' Taylor about 30-plus years ago back around 1993/94 in 'real life' anyway if any of you guy's know or have heard of Camden Town in north London a tourist destination these days and it has been since the 1970s with people visiting London from all over the world and visiting its handful of pubs, bars, music venues, restaurants, street food, night life and a couple of popular markets and its also associated with The Clash and Amy Winehouse as well anyway Camden Town is where Motorhead had early connections with for management and Chiswick Records back in the mid to late 1970s anyway just over 2-decades ago around 1993/94 I was walking along Camden Road and looked across at the cars that were waiting for the traffic lights to change to GO (GREEN) and I and noticed a guy who appeared to fit the description of Filthy 'Animal' Taylor at the driving wheel of a fast looking car heading along Camden road direction towards Holloway who had that distinctive hair the way 'Filthy' wore it as he started away from the traffic lights but what clinched it was this guy had his right-hand resting on the steering wheel and was holding what looked like a can of CARLSBERG LARGER which he appeared to start drinking as he drove away!!. Carlsberg larger was a much published larger in the music press at the time that Lemmy, Fast Eddie & Filthy Animal all favoured!!.

That little episode happened over 30-years ago and I only have posted it now cos I walked along that same bit of road this morning and thought about it again.. ;)

That's the one Dizbuster and I recall reading many years ago that Carlsburg larger were thinking of shooting a tv advert in the UK back in 1979/80 featuring Lemmy, Fast Eddie & Filthy in the advert but if it was made I don't think it ever appeared on tv.

Hmmm......had a Carlsberg many years ago...dont recall it being interesting.
" Reviewers on BeerAdvocate note it is neither poor quality nor outstanding, describing it as a standard, dependable lawnmower or barbecue beer. "

Not a fan of Motorhead either though I did like Hawkwind when Lemmy was in it.....does that count?
;)

The opinions of reviewers on BeerAdvocate are similar to those who don't like much of the music I listen to. So I'll continue to rave about Carlsberg because it's the tastiest beer I've ever consumed. I know you're familiar with the term 'Music Snob'. So simply remove the word 'music' and replace it with 'beer'. This will describe all of those who think that only they know what a good beer is.

And there you have it!

P.S.

I'm curious: had the discussion been about fast food hamburgers, and I had said that I prefer the hamburgers from Wendy's to those of any other burger joint, would you have added how many 'experts' rate Wendy's hamburgers as mid to low grade? Or, would you have told me that you only consume AAA, grass-fed steak, cut from a local butcher?

For the record, the Carlsberg Pilsner that I drink regularly is (and is not) the same beer that Lemmy and co. consumed back in '79-'80. Modern Carlsberg in England is rated at 3.4 %, while here in Canada it is rated at 5.0 %.
Carlsberg Lager ('Carlsberg Hof')) as sold in England in the 70's had a 4.2% ABV rating, so there would undoubtedly have been some noticeable difference between the English version (of then) and the Canadian version I drink now. And this variance does not take into consideration any of the other variables, most especially water.
In any case, Lemmy and the boys had incredible taste in beer.
