I'd like to give a mention for Ronnie Montrose. He had a few insturmental albums in the 90's that blew me away (particularly Mutantis Mutandis and Music From Here-highly recommended). Of course there's his work with his self titled band and Gamma as well.

Ann Wilson of Heart for her vocal talent and Christine McVie of Fleetwood Mac for both her singing and songwriting talent.

Don't know if he's the MOST underrated but underrated none-the-less, Ian Hunter.

Yes, and so is his collaborator Mick Ronson (HUNTER, RONSON BAND).
Mick Ronson, played lead guitar for David Bowie and also had a brief stint with Mott The Hoople.

Agreed!

Ian Hunter just came to mind because I was listening to "Just Another Night" on my iPod and I remembered how much I enjoy his music.

I agree with areozep about Farner but I also think Robert Fripp of King Crimson is very underated.
