As far as bands go it is no contest for me....The Beatles.
Allmusic.com nailed it on the head:
"So much has been said and written about the Beatles -- and their story is so mythic in its sweep -- that it's difficult to summarize their career without restating clichés that have already been digested by tens of millions of rock fans. To start with the obvious, they were the greatest and most influential act of the rock era, and introduced more innovations into popular music than any other rock band of the 20th century."

In terms of single artists I would pick Chuck Berry, Hank Williams and Miles Davis.

Most Influential Band of all time: The Beatles, by far.

Most Influential Musician: I couldn't narrow it down to one.

Most Influential Solo Artist of all time: Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix. I couldn't leave out one of these solo artists. They all had a huge impact on music over the last 60 years.
