First of all: don't be fooled by the "official" label on this thread... Official threads tend not to contain as much personal opinions as this one contains.
When it comes to Modest Mouse, I shall not be pushed into the objective corner of the room. No sir! I shall not!

So, to get to the subjective part right now --> Modest Mouse is a must have for all self-respecting indie listeners. I use the term indie lightly, don't judge me by it.. I might as well have said alternative rocker, but that wouldn't sound quite as cool now would it?

    This is them:

I'm sure you all know how to type, but let me help you:
Modest Mouse - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Studio albums

    * This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About (1996)
    * The Lonesome Crowded West (1997)
    * The Moon & Antarctica (2000)
    * Good News for People Who Love Bad News (2004)
    * We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank (2007)

The ones in bold are the ones I like best... But my all time favo is Building Nothing Out of Something It's a compilation album released in early 2000 (the copyright reads 1999), comprising non-album tracks from various points in the band's career.

I feel compelled to post their 2 most famous songs:

But please, don't listen to these and think "juck, they suck" because they are worth more then just these 2 songs...

I am equally compelled to list their 2 best songs (in my opinion only)

    And their craziest song... :D

So now you know Modest Mouse! (If you didn’t already) :) Enjoy.

Re: Modest Mouse - official !

I saw them in August .. I understand that they are much better recorded than live ....

I was not crazy about them and I admit to being very tired that day.

In fact liked Duchess and the Duke who opened for them very much and much better than Modest Mouse live in concert.

    I'm keeping an open mind.

They suck live. I have seen them 3 times and all performances were lousy. Their best albums by the way are The Moon And Antarctica and The Lonesome Crowded West

They just released an EP titled No One's First And You're Next and it's great. The best modest Mouse I've heard in awhile.
