Re: Metallica

I thought the piano segment was fine, just the leadup to when the hooks finally kick in kinda bored me a lot. I like songs with a build up but that just seemed very monotonous in parts.
I like the first Unforgiven because that one has a much better buildup in the intro, had a good structure where its heavy during the verse and melodic in the chorus, Unforgiven II was the opposite. But Unforgiven III while as I said I have heard worse songs, just did not do much for me.
I dunno, forgive me if my posts made me sound like a complete *****. :(

^^Sounds to me like you are fussing over nothing Riff, your post was fine, you went into detail...the colorful description could have been a little over the top but if that's what you feel we know you well enough to expect the honest truth when you write about something.:)

I like Death Magnetic, I think it's a good "comeback" album for Metallica. I have two versions, the studio release and then a "doctored" one that a hard core fan with studio expertise remixed that sounds better than the original.:D

Re: Metallica

^^ fair enough, I do fuss too much but I do worry a lot about not going too far but at the same time I don't wanna sugarcoat my opinion :)
Ill give you the songs I have actually started to like.
This Was Just My Life with a very good melodic opening then it is just a brilliant heavy song throughout and quite catchy too for a fast song.

Broken Beat & Scarred - Another song that I have come to like, I like the varied intros to the songs on this album, this has a catchy chorus also, like the SHOW YOUR SCARS part.

Suicide & Redemption - Very big song but awesome instrumental :D

All Nightmare Long - Another good intro, it builds and builds with the intro into the next section of the song before the first verse. Good hooks too.

The Judas Kiss - Not much to say other then a song that changed my mind for the good.

I have more acceptance to this album then previously, it is at worst a solid return for the band.

August 31 ... on this day in 1991, Metallica's "Black Album" hit #1 on the billboard charts (released on August 13th). The album stayed at the #1 spot for 4 weeks before being knocked by of Garth Brooks. 4 weeks at #1 was pretty interesting in this year, considering HALF of the year the #1 album of the year was one of these three:

Mariah Carey (11 weeks)
Vanilla Ice (8 weeks)
Garth Brooks (8 weeks)

:wtf:

The God That Failed should have been the last song, the other 2 after it were kinda shit.

Didn't realise it spent 282 weeks, that's one hell of an impressive run :grinthumb
Just looked it up and it finished no.8 on the end of decade (1990-1999) chart for US Billboard 200.
