Re: Manowar

I always thought that Louder Then Hell was one of their better ( top 5) albums and the last really great studio release, so far at least. Outlaw is one of my favorite songs off of Louder Then Hell. I saw Manowar live at the Whiskey A Go Go on Sunset Blvd supporting this album. Talk about AWESOME ....

As a special treat for their fans, MANOWAR have released two sneak previews of their new album that will be released this summer.

To listen to a preview to "El Gringo", visit: MANOWAR New Album 2012 Sneak Preview - "El Gringo" Rough Mix - YouTube
To listen to a preview to "Expendable", visit: MANOWAR New Album Preview - Expendable (Rough Mix) - YouTube
Both videos were filmed during a private listening session that was held for a select group of journalists and fans at Wisseloord Studios, Netherlands in March 2012.

During the session, MANOWAR bassist Joey DeMaio, and long-time collaborators Mixing Engineer Ronald Prent and Grammy award winning Mastering Engineer Darcy Proper provided insight into the making of the MANOWAR record, and the specific requirements in the production for a band that is world-renowned for a sound that is louder than any other band and yet equally clear and perfect.

The new album will be "everything you've come to know and to love about MANOWAR; and more", DeMaio recently said in a press conference. It will once again feature art by the world-renowned fantasy artist Ken Kelly.

MANOWAR will be headlining several festivals this summer, celebrating their new record and the 10th anniversary of one of their hit albums, Warriors Of The World:

MANOWAR PERFORM TITLE SONG FOR THE AFTER DARK ACTION FILM,
EL GRINGO
The “El Gringo” Theme Is From MANOWAR’S Forthcoming Album

New York/Los Angeles (May 4, 2012) -- MANOWAR and After Dark Films announced today that a track from the new, forthcoming MANOWAR album will be the theme song for the After Dark Action franchise film, EL GRINGO, an action Western starring Scott Adkins (The Expendables 2, The Bourne Ultimatum), Christian Slater and Yvette Yates (Without Men).

After Dark Action will showcase EL GRINGO and four other original, adrenaline-pumping films theatrically as a commercial film festival in US markets nationwide and on VOD (Video On Demand) on May 11. Directed by Eduardo Rodriguez (Stash House) and written by Jonathan W. Stokes, EL GRINGO is about The Man who crosses into Mexico with a satchel of $2,000,000 cash, a bloody past and a plan to live out his remaining days on a beach. Instead, he gets stuck waiting for a bus in El Fronteras, a sleepy desert town that’s so uninviting that – forget about the ocean – he can hardly find a glass of water. Then, word of his money spreads to the underworld. Under sudden attack from corrupt cops, gangsters, and desperados, The Man must push back his retirement plans, lock and load and save sleepy El Fronteras through a dizzying display of spectacular gunfights. Theater tickets for EL GRINGO and the other After Dark Action films are on sale now. For locations and to purchase advance tickets, visit Theaters | adacms.dev-site.org.

EL GRINGO marks the first time MANOWAR has written a song specifically for a movie. The song depicts the struggle of a hero torn between his moral code and financial gain, and the challenge of being true to oneself and the real values in life -- a recurring theme in MANOWAR’s music.
The band recently posted a sneak preview into the song online MANOWAR New Album 2012 Sneak Preview - "El Gringo" Rough Mix - YouTube.

"Everyone loves action movies! Our music, along with ass-kicking visuals and a great story, are a perfect match, not to mention a chance to actually see the music come alive on screen," said MANOWAR bassist and composer Joey DeMaio. "EL GRINGO has been a great experience, the team at After Dark Films has been a pleasure to work with, and we are ready for more!" he continued.

“We are thrilled to have MANOWAR as a creative collaborator on EL GRINGO,” said Courtney Solomon, a producer on the film, as well as the company owner and CEO of After Dark Films. “The band really invested their talent and energy into the project and we can’t wait to share their work with action audiences everywhere.”

The new MANOWAR album featuring the song, “El Gringo,” and many other songs in the vein of the band'***** record Warriors Of The World and the classical MANOWAR hymns will celebrate its world premiere and digital pre-release in June 2012.

MANOWAR will be headlining several European festivals this summer, celebrating their new album and the 10th anniversary of one of their most popular records, Warriors Of The World.

Upcoming MANOWAR headlining tour dates:

Sat, June 16, 2012 – Ost Fest – Bucharest, Romania

MANOWAR Announce Digital Release Of New Album For June 16, 2012

New York, May 11, 2012

MANOWAR’s new studio album, The Lord Of Steel, will first be released worldwide on June 16, 2012 exclusively on iTunes and on the band’s own online store, The Kingdom Of Steel (THE KINGDOM OF STEEL).

On the same date, Metal Hammer UK will release a special ‘Steel Edition’ of Metal Hammer #233, including the CD and a digital copy of the album.

The Lord Of Steel is blazing with pure power, untamed energy, and a sound as raw and wild as a force of nature. Track titles like Annihilation and Hail, Kill And Die! set the tone for a record that is packed with surprises.

In contrast to the 2007 release Gods Of War, this new album is not a concept album, yet each song tells a different story, retaining the MANOWAR vision of righteousness, honor and everything MANOWAR fans have come to know and love.

MANOWAR fans should expect to have “their heads completely blown off” said MANOWAR bassist Joey DeMaio in a recent interview, and explained that “…this album is all about brutality and raw power!”

The album will be mixed and mastered at the legendary Wisseloord Studios by long-time collaborators mixing engineer Ronald Prent and two-time Grammy award-winning mastering engineer Darcy Proper.

Known for their adventurous spirit and for never releasing the same style of album twice in a row, MANOWAR have this time tapped into the world of action heroes and their stories, writing their first song specifically for a Hollywood movie, ‘EL GRINGO’ and another one, Expendable, inspired by Sylvester Stallone’s action movie franchise ‘The Expendables’.

The band recently announced that El Gringo will be the theme song of the action western ‘EL GRINGO’ featuring Scott Adkins (‘Expendables 2’, ‘The Bourne Ultimatum’) and Christian Slater and produced by After Dark Films (‘An American Haunting’) and Joel Silver’s (‘Matrix’, ‘Lethal Weapon’) Dark Castle Home Entertainment.

The trailer for the film ‘El Gringo’ featuring a short sample of the theme song can be seen here: El Gringo - Official Trailer - Theme Song by MANOWAR - YouTube

A sneak preview into the song ‘El Gringo’ can be viewed here: MANOWAR New Album 2012 Sneak Preview - "El Gringo" Rough Mix - YouTube

A sneak preview into the song ‘Expendable’ can be viewed here: MANOWAR New Album Preview - Expendable (Rough Mix) - YouTube

“We were talking about a concept album but then got inspired to go in a different direction. This is where we are right now.” explained Joey DeMaio. “I’ve been doing research on getting the best microphones and pre-amps for the guitars. The bass sound is death defying. We’ve done a lot of work on drums too, giving Donnie room to stretch out. And Eric will simply sound bigger than life as always.”

MANOWAR are ready to celebrate their new album in a manner worthy of The Kings Of Metal with headlining performances at open-air summer festivals across Europe.

Upcoming MANOWAR headlining tour dates:

Sat, June 16, 2012 – Ost Fest – Bucharest, Romania
Thu, June 21, 2012 – Gods Of Metal – Milan, Italy
Fri, July 6, 2012 – Getaway Rock Festival – Gävle, Sweden
Mon, July 9, 2012 – Dortmunder Music Week Festival – Dortmund, Germany

About MANOWAR:
MANOWAR´s influence in the Rock Music industry is undeniable. During their impressive career they have left their mark in the Heavy Metal genre, thanks to a combination of unique craftsmanship and characteristic songwriting. With unrivaled conviction, persistence and the courage to unflinchingly pursue their own way, the band has weathered even the most unconquerable challenges. The band has earned numerous gold and platinum awards and completed more than 35 tours headlining venues that averaged between 10,000 and 50,000 sold-out seats.
MANOWAR’s unparalleled loyal following all over the world is reflected in their live events: fans from more than 40 nations traveled to celebrate the Magic Circle Festival in Germany for example.
As a tribute to their devoted international following, MANOWAR’s 2009 release Thunder In The Sky achieved another first in Heavy Metal history by recording the power ballad, “Father,“ in 18 different languages.

Looking forward to hearing the new MANOWAR release. From the press it sounds like they may have returned to their harder edge material and by passing the ballady stuff they have filled half their albums w/ here lately.
I sure hope they are back to going full-bore again.
