Manfred Mann's Earth Band - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Studio Albums:

1972 Manfred Mann's Earth Band
1972 Glorified Magnified
1973 Messin'
1973 Solar Fire
1974 The Good Earth
1975 Nightingales & Bombers
1976 The Roaring Silence
1978 Watch
1979 Angel Station
1980 Chance
1983 Somewhere in Afrika
1986 Criminal Tango
1987 Masque
1992 Plains Music
1996 Soft Vengeance
2004 2006

I just got into this band last year and I have only heard three of their albums:

Solar Fire (1973)
Nightingales & Bombers (1975)
The Roaring Silence (1976)

I'm sure everybody has heard their big hit "Blinded by the Light" from The Roaring Silence, which was originally done by Bruce Springsteen. The band did another cover of a Bruce Springsteen song "Spirits in the Night".

The Roaring Silence is still growing on me but I would recommend Solar Fire and Nightingales & Bombers for fans of prog rock. :grinthumb

Some of my favorite tunes:
(Blinded by the Light)

(Father of Day, Father of Night)
(Solar Fire)

Anyone else a fan?

Woot!!...I am a big fan of Manfred Mann's Earth Band. I have 7 of their albums now, but "The Roaring Silence" and "Chance" would be my favorites.

I think his cover of Blinded By the Light is far better than Springsteen's original.

I'm not a huge fan of MMEB or just MM, but there are a couple of songs of his that I really really like. Funny thing, 3 of the top 4 are songs written and originally recorded by Bruce Springsteen and I can't stand the Springsteen versions

For You
Spirits in the Night
Blinded By the Light
Runner

Ahh throw in Do-Wa-Diddy to round it out to a top 5.

That's probably the second most awesome album cover I've seen in recent times! (After Rainbow's Straight Through The Eyes) :heheh:

I have to admit I'm only familiar with Blinded By The Light, but they're definitely a band I want to listen to more of :grinthumb

Can't say I'm a huge fan of Manfred Mann, but I do love "Blinded By The Light" and "The Mighty Quinn" and I do a mean version of Do Wah Diddy Diddy when I play SingStar

Re: Manfred Mann's Earth Band

Nice to see some love for this band in here.:D

Astrid, did you know that the "Original" Manfred Mann toured for decades playing all the hits from the early years? Without Manfred actually being part of the band anymore...I always found that amusing, but he let them use that name and created the "...Earth Band" as his next band.

Sal, that scan is pretty crappy,,,I'll post my own cover later, I always thought it was well done. I saw the CD years ago in an import section of one of our stores about ten years ago and bought it on sight, I had my original CD stolen in a burglary so it took a while to obtain another copy.
