Lynyrd Skynyrd intends to press forward with their Last of the Street Survivors farewell tour, despite recent show postponements due to guitarist Gary Rossington’s heart issues.

“Gary is healing and feeling better,” the band confirmed in a statement posted to its official Facebook page. “Touring from city to city, night in and out, is difficult on his health, as it is with other members of the band. Recently, Gary has had a few setbacks and his health has not been 100 percent. But as Gary always says, ‘it’s what I know’, and that he loves to play guitar for the three generations of Skynyrd fans that also love the band’s music that he helped create.”

The statement goes on to note that the Last of the Street Survivors tour will resume with an Aug. 23 performance in Irvine, Calif. Skynyrd also hinted at additional dates to come in South America, Europe, Australia and other parts of North America in 2020.

Rossington, the group's only remaining original member, has been recovering from surgery to repair a leaky heart valve on July 31. Lynyrd Skynyrd postponed two shows while the guitarist recuperated.

“We all appreciate the well wishes for Gary and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused,” singer Johnny Van Zant said in announcing the rescheduled shows. “But he can’t wait to come back and perform at 100 percent for the fans. We will see you all soon!”
