We saw Murder on the Orient Express. It was dreadfully boring. I only wanted to see it because I read the book 10 years ago when I went through my Agatha Christie phase.

The parts are better than the sum. Not bad, not great.

how was it? I'm interested, but not SUPER enthused about it (simply because Warner Brothers has a way of doing these super hero movies so poorly).

I just got done with Thor and thought about going to Justice League since the movie started about 10 minutes after Thor finished. I decided to wait and see some reviews first.

I finally caught it before leaving the big screen for a long while, at least around these parts. It's been awhile since I visited the cineplexes, and there was no way I was not seeing
Blade Runner 2049 in the middle of dark, loud flickering vastness. Having seen the first one when it came out and having completely been taken with it since, the new one presented a challenge to a connection with the the film's past, my past, our culture's past, and its future.

Sure enough, like in 1982, BR 2049 isn't doing well at the box office, and I am amazed again, 35 years later, but much more so this time. For me it was a masterpiece that enhanced the original masterpiece. How could it complement Scott's film so thoroughly?
Yet it did and I am grateful. This year, two years from the original film's setting, 2019, we are already reaching technolgical advances that we could only dream of 35 yrs ago, and once again the new Blade Runner is floundering. Culturally, how telling is this?
So much to do so little time, or maybe just time to die?

Blade Runner's theme is driven like its Nexus 4's, 6's, 8's and 9's. So deep in grasping for
life and humanity, embracing it before all is lost, just like us... more human than human.
