Kelly Clarkson is an example of how pop rock can be delivered by a seemingly (as we honestly don't know these artist) down to earth, talented, driven artist. She is in my opinion the most talented artist to be spawned from American Idol, a show I actually like, and has done a great job of showing she's more than just the show's love child. She's fought to choose her own musical direction and take risk. She's an amazing vocalist and she respects the history of music and draws from it! I think she deserves a thread!

How could I not being a fan of the "power ballad"...that song would have been just as huge in the 80's era with or without American Idol.

I'm not exactly a fan of Kelly Clarkson but I can listen to her stuff and enjoy it. Like, I wouldn't actually go get any of it but if it's on the radio then I probably won't change the station.

Never bought a CD, but have always liked when she was on the radio... haven't heard much from her in the past few years though.. She was really popular around here for a while, but the craze seems to have died down... I actually might download an album tonight. I don't know if I like her enough to actually buy more than one from her, but she definitely good radio listening material

Breakaway was the first album I ever heard from her, and that was the first song I ever heard from her as well, so I have to say that one. I haven't listened to the other albums in a long time. Perhaps I need to get on that. I'm noticing more and more of how much of a fan I really am of hers, so getting all the albums she's released would be a good start. I just vaguely remember the first time I heard her, I was sitting in my living room and the music video for Since U Been Gone came on and I was literally up on my feet, dancing. It was such a fun song to grow up with, so that album has always taken a special place in my heart.

Exactly. I think if I remember correctly, I caught a couple of the episodes where she appeared on American Idol. My memory is terrible, so I could be wrong. But I agree completely, I haven't really looked to see what's going on in her personal life, but I haven't seen much outbreak with her from the paparazzi or in tabloids and such. So...I can assume she's still doing pretty well for herself. I would hope anyway.
