For Me This Is Heaven

Rick Burch-Bass Guitar
Zach Lind-Drums
Tom Linton-Guitar
Mark Trombino-Percussion Sequencing

The first star I see may not be a star
You can't do a thing but wait
So let's wait for one more...

And the time's such clumsy time
I'm deciding if it's time

I'm careful but not sure how it goes
You can loose yourself in your courage

When the time we have now ends
When the big hand goes round again...

Can you still feel the butterflies?
Can you still hear the last goodnight?

And the mindless comfort grows
When I'm alone with my 'great' plans

And this is what you said gets her through it
If I don't let myself be happy now then when?
If not now when
The time we have now ends
And when the big hand goes round again...

Can you still feel the butterflies?
Can you still hear the last goodnight?

I close my eyes and believe
Wherever you are
Angel for when the time we have now ends
And when the big hand goes round again

Can you still feel the butterflies?
Can you still hear the last goodnight?

I love this song and it's in my top three of the album! Nothing to get technical about: The vocals, the vocal harmonies, the piano and the way everything's mixed! For me this song is Heaven!

Take advantage of these times, you said.
You let me down.
It hasn't been the first time.
As I'm falling in the pit of fire my mind's made up.
I'm never coming back here.

How long would it take me to walk across the United States all alone.
The West coast has been traumatized.
I think I'm the only one still alive.

Is it just a coincidence to see you by yourself with no direction.
Now it's time to move on.
Don't you know that things aren't getting better.

How long would it take me to walk across the United States all alone.
The West coast has been traumatized.
I think I'm the only one still alive.

When the world caves in
What you gonna do
When the world caves in
What u gonna do for me

When the world caves in
What you gonna do
When the world caves in
What u gonna do for me

How long would it take me to walk across the United States all alone.
The West coast has been traumatized.
I think I'm the only one still alive.

How long would it take me to walk across the United States all alone.
The West coast has been traumatized.
I think I'm the only one still alive.

Regardless of what I said about Tom Linton as vocal lead being a bad fit he really impresses on this as the one song where he leads. In fact, this is another song in my top three and my favorite energetic track on the disc. This is an awesome anthem, has a great chorus and plain rocks. This is the best song to sing along to on the disc.

I'll take your words as if you were talking to me.
Say what I know you'll say and say it through your teeth.
With pride keep every failure in.
And with pride hold on to the sinking.
Now in the deep and down your heart moves.
Now in the deep and down, I don't know how but I know I want out.
Wait for something better.
Will I know when it can be us?
Maybe that doesn't mean us.
Wait for something better?
I shouldn't, it's not enough.
Pull one excuse from another.
Just one excuse from another.
This time it means us. stop.

This song is another great anthem plain and simple and it's a great track to carry the energy from the last track and to transition to the last epic finale.

"Is tomorrow just a day like all the rest."
How could you know just what you did?
So full of faith yet so full of doubt I ask.
Time and time again you said don't be afraid.
"If you believe you can do it."
The only voice I want to hear is yours.
Again.
I shall ask you this once again.
And again.
He said:
" I am but one small instrument."
Do you remember that?
So here I am above palm trees so straight and tall.
You are smaller, getting smaller.
But I still see you.

This is my favorite and the masterpiece of the album. The building of a perfect harmony subtle layer by subtle layer. I get lost in this track! It's the perfect dreamscape! The perfect meditation! The perfect trance to fall into! Not everyone will agree and some may get tired of it but if you fall into it you will feel 16 minutes of bliss! It's the perfect end to what I feel is a flawless album of modern music! :grinthumb

These guys are better than I thought they would be and I'm not just saying that. So used to the Middle.

Out of all these tracks I liked them all. My favorites have to be

Crush
Table For Glasses
A Sunday

12.23.95 has like a bit of Radiohead-ness about it.

I haven't gotten through the Demo stuff yet...but I will be checking them out....one demo at a time. :heheh:

Well MP, the album is the important part but it's definitely interesting to see how some of these songs started off! Yeah, The Middle really is about as far off from what the group was about that you can get! Your top three are different than mine but there's not a bad pick on the album so it's cool to see what personal picks people would have off of here! :grinthumb
