I'm surprised to see no mention of "Little Sister" Soots. It's a pretty simple tune, and very short but I absolutely adore it, and it's a good testament to her "guitar girl" simplistic thing she had going on for awhile back when Pieces of You came out. I like Jewel. I don't own much of her stuff but she seems like a very genuine gal. From what I remember she was very poor when she was younger and living out of a van. I love artists with stories like that who made themselves a success from such meager beginnings. Plus I think she's Alaskan which makes this place a little more tolerable.

I just now learned that there is more than one version of "Foolish Games" now that I own a copy of "Pieces of You". The album version is longer, a bit slower, has somewhat layer vocals, and a whole nother verse that the version I've always heard on the radio doesn't. I like the longer version more.

Yeah, I didn't realize that before I bought the album either Harm. Personally I like the short version better as it's the one I grew up with. That really is the best song on the album though, long version and all.

Well the version on the radio is he song that got me back into Jewel after a long hiatus but I think the longer version has more depth personally. Neither is bad though, just preference.

I especially think this verse is really pretty...

In random news, Jewel had her teeth fixed. Personally I liked her crooked smile. I felt it was her "signature" look.

Yea, I just read this blurb.

She's portraying June Carter Cash in an upcoming movie. There is much gnashing of teeth (pun intended) from her fans about the whole crooked tooth thing.

Geez, you acolytes...it's not real, ok? She didn't betray (really, that word was used in some of the comments) her fans.

She's not bowing down to the great public image pressure cooker. She got her hair colored, contacts and some fake teeth. For a movie part.Get a grip, people.

Because the meaning of music is defined by how natural someones teeth are. Nevermind the 3-5 hours she spends before shows getting attractive. I like Jewel, but she is a massive hypocrite and narcissist. Theres an interview of her and some small town newspaper reporter, and within an hour she says both "My looks shouldn't effect my music. I dont care what I look like or what people think I should look like." and "I don't ever go outside my home without spending at least an hour at the cosmetics table. Those Paparazzi are everywhere!" I think theres a point when small contradictions become public image manipulation, and that effects how I hear the music.

Ah! Well see, she had me fooled. Friend showed me that picture yesterday but no backstory to it. Kudos to her for not giving into peer pressure. Look at celebs like Jennifer Grey who totally changed their look (the nosejob). Also Miley Cyrus used to have a wicked crooked smile and she had work done. I'm sure I could go on and on.

Looking at that picture, I think maybe there is something going on with her cheeks, as well. Those are June Carter Cash's high cheekbones. I don't recall if Jewel's are like that or not.
