often wondered what many greats would be doing in 2025.....in particular members of the 27 club.
This (arthritis factored in)....could be jimi in a smokey club.

Anymore ideas??

Well I know Slowhand Eric Clapton did a Hendrix song when he was with Derek and the Dominos in Little Wing and it seems to be a track Clapton has performed live with numerous guests (Sheryl Crow for example):

Just a followup about Little Wing cause I'd never really listened to Jimi Hendrix version, though it's a much different song & very short and to the point. Derek and the Dominos by contrast has taken the song out of the Psychedelic phase and made it more of a Glam Rock number by making it a very lengthy tune and additional struts of the Guitar which were never part of the original song. Historically it appears Derek and the Dominos would of being paying tribute to Hendrix, though according to Wikipedia Derek and the Dominos were playing the song as early as June and studio recording being recording before Hendrix's death Sept 18, 1970.

He'd be doing what every other musician from the 60's is doing. Doing shows playing 50-60 year old songs. Probably with a younger tighter band to carry his ass, and backing vocalists to do the same.

I'd like to think I could have the chance to see him live. I'd like to think that maybe music, and everything in general, would have more soul and freedom than it does today. And of course, he wouldn't be in the Rock and Roll Museum, like the way King Crimson or Mike Oldfield ARE NOT, because they're not dead.
Let's see who they bury this year.

No idea.....but I think he would be doing blues rock with a jazzier/fusion edge similar to what Beck did in his last years.
And I think he would definitely be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame(Shame).

really ?...that's a fair comment and opine. But I think Jimi, if alive today would have layers of profession and charisma, okay the lighter fuel would be on hold, but his guitar playing would be still awesome and Band Of Gypsies material would be suited. On a stool flexing his old chords around Wind Cries Mary.

Well, he'd be 82. I honestly don't know how awesome his guitar playing would actually be.

Sorry, I'm being a crank. Yes, Hendrix was very influential. I just cannot romanticize about Hendrix at that age.

I can't really comment on Jimi at 82 because I can't even picture him at that age although he would no doubt be regarded as "ROCK ROYALTY" by everyone in the music business these days and in the same league as sir Paul McCartney, Elton John & sir Mick Jagger.

Also with regards to mention of Eric Clapton's version of Little Wing personally I don't rate it to highly as the Derek & the Dominos version it is a 'full on band' version of the song rather than like Jimi's own original version of electric guitar and his vocal along with Mitch on drums and Noel on bass although Eric meant it as a 'kind tribute' to his friend Jimi. Anyway I am not sure if Jimi may have heard a 'rough bootleg tape' version of Little Wing by Derek & the Dominos cos the album that it appeared on Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs album came out about a month after Jimi sadly passed away in September of 1970 and no mention in any of the books on Jimi does it mention him having heard the Derek & the Dominos version?.

I think Eric was in Miami during the summer months recording the Derek & the Dominos album, Jimi was 'recording' in 'his' own then uncompleted Electric Lady studios in New York during April, May, June plus performing gigs at the weekends with 'the Experience' (Mitch Mitchell on drums and Billy Cox bass) and then in July he was on the movie set of Rainbow Bridge on the island of Maui (Hawaii) and then back to New York for a final burst of recording at Electric Lady studios during August before heading off to London and Europe to perform at the Isle of Wight festival (on August 31st bank holiday) and then a short Scandinavian and European tour ending on the September 6th at the Isle of Fehmarn in Germany before heading back to London and sadly dying in London on September 18th 1970.

Possibly the GREATEST LOSS TO ROCK MUSIC period.

Cranky is good!
I noticed The Who have eventually succumbed to 'age'....sacking of Zak Starkey seems related to his criticism of Daltrey...
