Green Day have begun work on their ninth studio album. In a Tweet this week, Billie Joe Armstrong announced the news:

"Happy Valentine's Day! Officially started recording the new record today. It's **** TIME!!!!"

I miss the old days of one album per year like clockwork. But I'll be interested in a new GD album, I have always liked them.

Great to see that they're working again. Seems like they're pretty much unstoppable. Definitely one of those bands that just keeps putting out big records again and again.

Agreed!! In the 60s there were a lot of albums that would only run 35 to 40 minutes but they came out every year. I think that's a much better method and gives the band a lot more space to grow. Waiting two years in between albums, I can't stand that. >.<

I hope this one is better than their last one. I was pretty underwhelmed by it aside from a song or two.

Also I don't mind it when artists take a bit of time to record a new album.

That sound you hear is my best friend's two teenage sons screaming with joy.
