Google apps and desktop icons

Anyone know how to fix the desktop icon shortcut problems with gooogle chrome that just started lately.....it doesn't support the shortcut apps anymore...what to do?

I don't use chrome, but you might try doing a reinstall of chrome which should refresh the icons.

If I reinstall a newer version of Google chrome will it automatically erase the old one?

Don't know, but if there is a newer version than the one you're using installing it might solve your problem.
